Can a cd not compatiable with your system, like using 98 with XP, work?

I have this cd and when I try to run it, it has this warning that says:
This system is not sutiable for running MS-DOS... can I fix it to make it work or is there no hope?

There is a very technical explanation for your question.

In XP you can use Virtual PC to create a virtual harddrive and computer enviroment. From the virtual software console you can install and load various operating systems like DOS, windows 9x, XP or even VISTA, that will run in a windows on your main XP pc.

One of the draw backs is that the MS Virtual PC software uses a set standard for hardware so if your program requires a certain graphics/sound card better than the virtual hardware, it still wont work.

There are other programs which can do the same as MS virtual pc like VMware but they are expensive.
