You can protect yourself from identity fraud:
1. Shred or financial information containing account or Social Security numbers.
2. Don't place SSN on checks
3. Don't write your PIN number on your credit card -- or have it anywhere near your credit card.
4. Each month when your credit statements come in, don’t automatically assume everything on it is accurate. Read every line item on your credit statement and make sure each and every charge is legitimate.
5. Never provide your credit card information on a website that is not a secure site.
If you become a victim call to your credit card company immediately.

Wow, you sound like an unusual teen who's actually aware of the meaning of good credit and financial responsibility! There's nothing wrong with having a credit card as long as you pay off your bill every month before interest and fees kick in. That's very hard for most people, living within their means. But it sounds like you're well on your way to avoiding that common pitfall. What you should worry about is identity theft. You could have someone running up lots of bills in your name without you ever knowing about it before major damage is done. You should get a free copy of your credit report from someplace like TransUnion or Experian (websearch their websites). That way, if someone is doing that, you will see evidence of credit cards you never ordered or used. Hopefully, that's not the case. Otherwise, do establish your credit by taking out loans you know you can pay. A student loan can help, or a credit card with a very low limit that you always pay off. That way, when you want more money, lenders will be very glad to give it you and you'll qualify for the lowest interest rates, which is very important. Good luck and keep up the good work!

All the others will monitor and alert you, but leave you to fix the problem. We Chambers of Commerce and attorney generals endorsing our company, so we are pretty big. I would be happy to share the info with you and you can become protected immediately.

you can pay some company to "protect" your credit which I personally think is a waste of money, the most efficient way in my opinion to protect your credit is to set a FACTA alert on your soc, this will make it impossible to take on new debt without direct contact to you and only you through a phone number that you provide, go to www.myfico.com to look into setting this up.

The best things I can think of is to shred all your credit statements after they arrive in the mail and have looked them over, also do not put your account number on checks you mail out to your creditors, if you must, put the last 4 numbers, they are unique enough for the creditor to identify you. Do not give out credit card numbers or social security numbers to anyone you do not know.
