Jesus went to a place that some call "hell" or better known as a place called "Abraham's busom" or "Paradice" where all the ppl that belonged to God went BEFORE Christ's atoning death. He went there to minister to them & to set them free...Jesus caused the doorway to be opened for them, allowing access to Heaven forever. The others that are on the oppposite side of that chasm...are those that are still awaiting the final judgement of eternal condemnation.

Christian mythology, like all mythology, drew on the myths and legends that went before it. The virgin birth was borrowed from buddist myth, Hindu myth, etc. The teachings of Jesus were lifted from Jewish philosophy, Aristotle, Rome, the far east etc. The Old Testament itself was taken, unedited, from Jewish scripture. Even the Jews lifted myths from other religions, the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible is almost exactly like the Babylonian creation myth, this is why the garden of Eden is between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers instead of Palestine. The fact is that no religion is completely new, just as no society cannot be a clean break from the society that came before it. The United States retained many ideas from Great Britain when it became an independent nation just as it adopted many ideas from such disparate sources as the Iroquois Confederacy and ancient Rome and Greece.

How is hell an ancient myth? Most religions have that notion, even Islam. And who told you that hell is the same as Abraham's bosom? Abraham's bosom is a Jewish term that denotes the abode of the righteous after they die, but before the resurrection of the dead. In no way is it called hell. And please, get your facts right. Jesus did not have to set anybody free from Abraham's bosom because that is not some kind of prison.

No, the god-man death/burial/resurrection is an ancient mythology theme.
You find it in Mithra, Mabon, Osiris, Zoroastrianism, just to name a few.
Eternal torment comes from the Greeks.. this was never a jewish concept, and Jesus was allegedly Jewish.

I think you have it backwards. Mythology was the twisting of reality. People of ancient times knew the truth but twisted it to fit their own desires.

That is how Satan works. He takes truth and twists is just enough that it still sounds right but is still wrong. Much like spin doctors and politicians. Gee, I wonder where they get their ideas from?

Of course it is, "Myth's" are the stories to the old religions. only reason they are called Myths is because of the Witch Trials ... one day if Christianity is ever tossed aside like the Pagan religions were then its stories will be considered nothing but "myth".
