While I think it's wrong to ask God to interfere on your behalf to whack your opponent; it's perfectly acceptable to pray to the Almighty to grant everyone the wisdom to tell the good from the bad, the right from the wrong in order to choose one's own path.
No one can be sure how prayers work from the metaphysical aspect but psychologists and social scientists mostly agree those who pray are better equipped to deal with crises and adversities than those who don't. Perhaps in praying, a person actually talks to his own subconscousness as much as he thinks he does to God and scientists think the subconscious can work wonders.

1. G-d wants us to pray and to realize that He is the Source of everything.
2. While He gives us free will, it's not necessarily "against his nature" to interfere. When there are two possible outcomes, He can give strength to one side or the other based on merit, prayer, or pre-ordained outcome.

Good question, wrong premise.
It is God's innate nature to be present and participate. The difficulty is when we demand he dance by our out of tune pipe. Sommething like inviting me to your house and leaving the dryer vent open for me.
Jesus saw all the hurt around him and told his disciples to pray: THY will be done, THY kingdom come. The prayers you mention are not yielding any room for God to participate. Prayer is communication w/ God, not dictation.

Did you know...? The Hebrew word for prayer comes from the same root as 'snare' (like a trap to catch an animal for dinner). When we pray, we seek to snare God's goodness. When we pray for harm--like two warring nations--we're not likely to trap God's goodness, because we are not seeking goodness--wrong bait, wrong catch.

i misconception about prayer is that it is simply a request that you are asking of God and expecting him to DO something for you. That's not what makes prayer work. When you pray for something, you have to believe that your prayer was granted at that very moment. You can't sit around waiting for God to strike you with a lightening bolt as your answer, or hand you a pile of cash. Your faith is what God answers prayers through.

It's in God's "innate nature" to love and care for His creation. Prayer changes things. You should try it some time.

In Matthew 18:19 Jesus says: returned I say to you, if 2 of you compromise on earth approximately something they ask, that is going to likely be carried out for them via my Father in heaven. For the place 2 or 3 are accrued in my call, there am I interior the middle of them. how many church homes have prayed for an end to ailment, poverty, conflict, pestilence? Why have those prayers in no way been valuable? Jesus' own words are "that is going to likely be carried out". He does not say perhaps. He does not say in case you meet particular circumstances. He says "that is going to likely be carried out". real, he does not say while the two. This topic is repeated many circumstances interior the hot testomony. In John financial disaster 14, Jesus tells all human beings basically how undemanding prayer may well be: "particularly, particularly, I say to you, he who believes in me additionally will do the works that I do; and bigger works than those will he do, because of the fact i flow to the father. besides the fact which you ask in my call, i will do it, that the father might nicely be glorified interior the Son; in case you ask something in my call, i will do it. returned he says WILL DO IT. no longer might do it. Message is reiterated Mark in 11:24: "for this reason I help you be attentive to, besides the fact which you ask for in prayer, have self belief which you have gained it, and it is generally yours." So why, Christian pals, will we proceed to wish? nicely, if prayer isn't genuine the chuches we've been usually born into won't be able to collect on their pledges. The minister's relatives will might desire to count on prayer fairly of the scientific coverage we pay for. there'll be no enormous development money being raised, whilst the venture money meant to aleviate poverty and human misery languish. there'll be no doughnuts on Sunday morning.

People pray because the are ignorant and are in constant need/search for answers.... relgion is the easiest way for ignorant people to attempt to find a "crutch" to help themselves get through what ever hardships they may be going through... whether it be direct or indirectly put apon them.....
