If you are old enough to buy cigarettes, then you are old enough to make your own decisions about smoking.

Just a word of advice: smoking IS highly addictive. And while it never seems like a big deal when you first start, it is a huge deal later in life when you think "Boy, I started smoking just because." I'm not preaching, I'm just one of those people who said and felt that same thing. And now I'm all grown up, and still smoking. It's not nearly as cool as I used to think it was. That's all--make your own decisions.

I guess just tell them to mind their own business.

The reason they tell you this though, is because...as a smoker, I can tell you, its right next to impossible to quit, and sooner or later, youll want to quit. It will screw with your health, big time. My bf was also a smoker, hes my husband now for 21 yrs, and he STILL smokes, as do I.

I love to smoke, but it doesnt love me, Im a slave to it. People told me not to smoke too, and Im still doing it. I should have listened.

You're wanting to convince your friends to "let" you smoke? How old are you? If you want to smoke, then that's ultimately your decision. Do you do everything your friends tell you to? It's your own life you're cutting short, (but also your loved one's air you'll be polluting, so keep that in mind...anybody who wants to be seen with you in the future will have to stand around in your toxic cloud and breathe your poisoned air). But if you want to stink to high heaven, pick up a serious addiction, and die prematurely, it's your business.

Well, although I believe that you should not be smoking...if you simply must then don't worry about what your friends say. Be considerate enough not to smoke around them, but you need not convince them of anything.

i stop smoking couple of months ago, in december....
i stopped because my doctor told me i m more potential of getting cancer than average smoker. i dont know what that meant but scared me

my friends used to do the same S*it, bug the **** out me when someone use to say "u know u r killing u and everything around u" and i used to tell them

"I will stop when i want to and it will happen"
So it did, but i still bum one here and there from people

Well as a smoker I would tell anyone who is trying to get me to stop smoking is this is my life, my body, my choice. If you are a friend you should take me as I am and you knew I smoked.

You don't have to convince them to "let you" smoke, unless you're trying to do it in their homes, cars, etc (in which case you have to follow whatever their rules are).

But if smoking is your choice, don't expect them to continue to hang around you. They don't want to breathe in your choking, cancer-causing secondhand smoke, or smell your stink, and that's THEIR choice.

You're free to make whatever choice you want, but don't complain about the consequences of your choice.

You're your own person and you make decisions for you. No one can make you do what you don't want to do...they can give you their opinion on the matter but the choice is ultimatly up to you. They obviously care about you if they don't want you to smoke. Do you care about you? Or do you just want to look cool? It'll kill you.
