If not, then what seedmix should they have?

This site is full of info; they recommend a commercial turkey or game bird feed. That should be fairly easy to get hold of.

All seed mixes can lead to malnutrition even if fortified because the birds may pick and choose. There are excellent quail feeds available to you.I believe quail require more protein than cockatiels. There are also mashes available for new chicks. Have a tweet year.

A seed diet is never enough for any bird. Along with the seed, Quails need (chopped) veggies and fruit, hard boiled egg yolk. They also love grubs and worms. If you can't get these from your garden, try the pet shop. They are just like having small chickens, and eat very similar things.
