Las leyendas muchas veces personifican a los fenómenos naturales o tratan de resolver misterios de fenómenos naturales. De tal manera hay muchos volcanes en México, América Central y América del Sur que llevan nombres y características humanos. Los habitantes que vivían a su alrededor contaban leyendas para explicar el origen de estos volcanes y la relación que éstos tenían con el pueblo.

Many times legends personify the natural phenomenons or try to solve mysteries of natural phenomenons. In the same way there are many volcanos in Mexico, Central America, and South America that have human names and characteristics. The people that lived around them told legends to explain the origin of these volcanoes and the relationship that these had with the town.
