I have found a diet that I believe will fit my lifestyle. But it consist of drinking 3 protien shakes between meals. Will these shakes actually make me gain weight?

I consume 6 meals a day (7 on weight training days). 3 of my meals are protein shakes, MetRx to be exact. I have gained weight (muscle mass) and my waist is thinner.
