I have a 10, 8 and 2 year old. I was thinking of taking the MA program, now thinking of LPN (see my other question). But which will I be able to handle having 3 kids. My husband rarely helps out, so can't count on that! Can anyone tell me how hard it is. I'm also a little freaked with the "blood work stuff". Will I get over that?

I'll put it this way , you will need to set aside a few hours every night to study and do your homework in order to get passing grades. I will tell you that you need to be very dedicated and determined to get through, when your raising a family. You also need a good support system and back up sitters. If this is something you really want to do then you can, but be certain.I found nursing school to be very enjoyable as I was eager to learn and I loved medicine, however, working as a nurse is a back-breaking profession (literally) , it entails excellent organization skills, good judgment, and very high stress due to the high patient workload. Remember it takes a ton of physical work, and mental work as well----no room for mistakes!!!! Give it much thought as the medical field in general is high stress!!!!!!!!

I did it with a 6 year old. You need to be able to devote at least an hour or two each night to studying. I did it in 2 years, though most programs are only one. The reason I did it in 2 years was it was a mother's hours program that ran 3-4 days a week from 8:30 to 2:30. I found this was better than going 5 days a week.
