Tell the stylist that you don't want too short layers and you want a color like Hilary Duff

If the dirty blonde is natural, you can probably go to the stylist and have them simply use a toner on it (with 20 or 30 volume peroxide) to achieve a lighter blonde, and you can definately have them use a high-lift tint. Either way it will cause only minimal damage if done at a salon. If it's not natural they'll have to bleach it which may increase breakage, especially if you have fine hair. Breakage is bad for length.

No shampoo will help your hair grow longer, but when you're at the salon ask them what shampoo they recommend for you and buy it there. The stylist will know a lot more than I do about your specific hair type and should be able to help you pick the shampoo and conditioner that's best for you. Everyone's hair is different and what works really well for one person doesn't necessarily work for someone else.

Get your hair trimmed regularly as necessary (may be ever 4 weeks, may be every 4 months depending on your hair) and be clear in your description of what you want when you are talking to your stylist. Tell them you want layers, tell them where you want your highest layer to be, tell them if you want them jagged or straight, etc. Or find a picture of what you want and print it out for them.

Getting hair to grow is simply a matter of keeping it healthy. Use a quality shampoo and get it trimmed every 4 weeks. If you stay with the same stylist and tell them what you are trying to do - they should cut all the dead stuff off first - that can be traumatic, but it will be worth it. But then with a good trim each month, your hair will start growing and in no time - you'll have the length you want.

Your hair will grow, just get it trimmed every 6 weeks like a inch or to, A friend of mine got vitamins from GNS, to help the hair grow, it helped a little bit, but just eat right, and your hair will grow naturally.

I dont think there are any kinds that lengthen your hair, but maybe try a hair straightener and maybe a kind of shampoo that gives you the appearance of straighter hair. Straighter hair always looks longer!!!!
