Hinduism is a set of beliefs as stated in various religious texts including the upanishads, Baghavad Gita, and Vedas.

Buddhism started after the historical Gotama "Buddha" stated that he had reached enlightenment by following the spiritual path that the ancient Hindus had stated they experienced. The Major difference at the time was that Buddha rejected the caste system, stating that a man finds salvation based on his knowledge and not on his caste.

As for modern day, present Buddhists, it is quite different. The majority of Hindus today are roughly the same as in ancient times (as close as 3000 years will allow) But Buddhists on the other hand seemed to have divided up their theories into many different segments of Buddism.

You're in luck! since buddhism is close to hinduism (both are dharmic religions, as opposed to abrahamic) there are many similarities; the wikipedia is a great place to start.

I don't know a whole lot but Hindu's has many Gods. Now, they may be the same God with many different names.

Isn't Buddhism primarily a philosophy?

Both believe in the concept of rebirth, non-harm, use many of the same ideas and words, correct speech and other ethical ideas, same ideas on karma, chakras, tantra, giving other religions respect, etc.

Buddhism is atheistic in philosophy, believes that people can be free from cyclical existence, eschews the idea of extremes in finding your way, approach tantra differently, etc.

Just a few, hope they help
