You should eat and drink before brushing your teeth, not after. If you do have to brush, I wouldn't eat till 30 minutes later. Your saliva will dissolve any remaining traces of the tooth paste. But it's preferable to eat first, then brush! If you have "morning breath" just rinse with water before you eat, and then brush. Yeah, OJ tastes yuck! Sometimes I forget!

Perhaps you are just more aware of your sense of taste and or smell. Why do apples and onions taste alike when you have a cold (stuffed up nose)?
I guess you could try out different toothpastes before eating the same things. Great science project if you need one.

You have introduced a sharp taste of the toothpaste to your taste buds , briefly "stunning" them.
You can try this with other sharp tasting things , try lemon juice , or something really spicy , same sort of effect , makes other foods taste differently.

I've heard this but never actually experienced it... maybe because I brush AFTER I eat? I would guess that the chemical cocktail in most toothpastes (including the ghastly laurel sulfate) combine together with the actual food to form a yukky mess.

it is the fluoride in the paste and also the flavor of the paste, I believe you can get non flavored paste, that might make the nasty taste of food go away, but I'm not sure!
