We have a7 yr old very smart dog, almost human. Another 1 yr old dog smart too, 70lbs., then we decided to take her brother because he was too big for the couple, he is 130lbs. he is rot & black lab. BIG DUMB DOG. I was told he is very smart. Don't think so. He irritates the hell out of me, but he is so cute HELP

All dogs have different personality's!
Most need more training then others!
Try training him!

Take your time with him. You seem very experienced with dogs...and I know that you know that you can only get out of him, what you put in.

Patience. Praise. Patience Praise.

Go nuts when he does something right. Ignore him or gesture with body language when he does something wrong. He'll get it!

Plus, since he is new to the "pack"...he's just trying to figure out his role. Rott/Lab miz, should be pretty intelligent.

Dogs aren't dumb or stupid. Some tend to be stubborn, tenacious and determined which a lot of people mistake for stupidity.

dogs are only as intelligent as the owner who trained them....evidently the ower whom you got the dog from did not train very well...training is not up to you...its a large hard process...but after 2 years the dog should be very well trained....good luck

Take him to a dog training class if you'r ehaving trouble...You didn't really say what he was doing that you need help with so you won't get much advice..
