Heh...our chihuahua did the same thing.

For awhile, it was pretty horrible as he would go everywhere. I think the thing that helped the most was to put him on a strict schedule.

We started taking him outside before we both (my wife and I) left for work, and would take him out as soon as one of us got home. Setting your dog up on a schedule if very important. Yes, he/she will still have accidents, but by encouraging him to go outside with the schedule will really help in the long run!

Good luck!

Using house training pads...Perfect for townhome
Step 1: Confine your dog. It's not fair to expect your puppy to understand housetraining if you give him free run of the whole house. Keep him with you at all times or crate when they are alone.

Step 2. Teach your puppy "permission to potty". When he goes, say "good business" like it's the most exciting thing on earth. Reinforce with a treat.

Step 3. Use house training pads. You can find them at Petco/petsmart or the like. You place the pads, which have been treated with an odor that humans don't smell, but smells like urine to the pup. Most dogs will "do business" right then and there!

Do away with the puppy pads. Crate train him. If you can't watch him, put him in his crate. Learn his schedule and take him outside when he has to go.

Maybe puppy thinks he is a "big boy" and doesn't need his puppy pad. Ask your vet for suggestions.

Yeah, put him outside to do his "buisness". Problem solved.
