I certainly have and first thing I will let you know is the myth about it causing hallucinations is just that....a myth! The only one that actually does cause hallucinations is the proper stuff from Amsterdam which is illegal everywhere else. The hallucinations are caused by the use of an ingrediant called Wormwood and although most absinthes will say on the bottle "Contains Wormwood" it is a very small dose so it will get you extremely drunk but not cause hallucinations. On it's own it is not the nicest tasting spirit, having a very strong aniseed (licorice) taste to it. The traditional way to drink absinthe is to melt sugar in an absinthe spoon and drop the sugar into the absinthe and drink. However I find it goes down nicely if mixed with apple juice, it also turns the apple juice a cool aqua colour! Enjoy!

I encountered an absynthe fairy on Halloween, she got us all toasted. She had a green fairy costume too, whee. I did not get anything but drunk though, which has been the case all the times I have had it. I think the halucenogen effects may be accumulative, like how Van Gough experienced? Like it adds up over time, because I had some that was home made and I had some ordered from Europe and no tripping. I did get a worse hangover however.
