I don't consider myself an insomniac, just a light sleeper and I can't seem to get my mind turned off. I'm always thinking abt random stuff, not really stressful stuff, that keeps my mind awake when I just want to get to sleep. This is even more sucky when I have to wake up in the middle of the night and I can't get back to sleep. Any help on how I can turn my mind "off"?

I used to have this problem when I was younger and it frustrated me to the point of aggravation (nothing pissed me off more than looking at my clock and seeing it was an hour and a half later from when I had gone to bed and turned off my light).

Nowadays I usually read a book (something I've read already but enjoy reading). I find the more I try to concentrate on reading, the more tired my eyes get. In fact, I have found that trying to focus your eyes on anything will tire them out and get you really sleepy (as opposed to keeping them shut and wishing for yourslef to fall asleep)....it works for me?

I have the same problem. What I usually do is read or go on the computer until I get really tired again. I wonder if this has to do with hormones because it only happens to me certain times of the month. I am going to ask my Dr. next time I go.

I would take slow, deep breaths. That is how the body breathes while asleep, and I have tried it a couple of times, and it has even made me sleep! It will calm you down, and just focus on the breathing, and sleep will come! Good luck!

A lot of exercise during the day might help

I pray. It takes my mind off everything else, relaxes me and I end up falling asleep.
