Come clean. It will show up on the polygraph if you lie, and that will look MUCH worse than having experimented once 10 years ago.
ANOTHER question that will be asked is: "Have you ever researched how to defeat a polygraph, including on the Internet?"
Good Luck-

You need to go ahead and tell the truth. When you take the polygraph you won't be able to pass it . The Police Department is looking for someone that is honest, ethical, and of good moral character. They don't want a liar. Police personnel realize that very few people haven't smoked pot in their lifetime and it's not that big of a deal to them if you have, just as long as you haven't done it in the recent past. Don't screw up a potential career by doing something stupid and lying.

you should have been honest at the outset. most modern employers realize that most young people "experiment" with illicit drugs at some point in their lives. If you are nervous about it, it will certainly show up in the polygraph, as a matter of fact, that is exactly how the polygraph works, it detects stress and not lies

Well, I dont think they'll deny you the job if you got high one time in high school. who didn't? so, your 2 options are (1) tell the truth or (2) convince yourself that you didn't do it- the polygraph results are based on heart rate etc. and if you think you're telling the truth, even if youre not, it will show that you are. Or if youve gotten high more than once, make yourself believe that it was just once, and tell them it was once and you didnt like it (assuming you dont still get high), and hey, maybe theyll appreciate the 'honesty'. good luck!

If you try to trick the polygraph machine, then you run the risk of being caught and disqualified. If you come completely clean before, then you probably run a higher chance of being forgiven. Trying marijuana once, ten years ago, is very petty. They will not disqualify you on that alone. My advice to is to come clean. Polygraphs are pretty accurate. Best of luck either way!

well, it would be a lot better if you hadnt smoked once since dec 2005 - and when would that be? jan 1 2006? jan 27 2007?
what the heck is a future cop doing, smoking pot? are you ready to enforce laws you break?
anyway, i think the best thing to do is come clean, look them in the eye and tell them you're never doing it again, and mean it!
maybe they'll let it go, it's not like you have it on your record, which is a plus
but i think you only dig yourself in deeper if you try to lie

Just relax and take your time. Try not to think of your answers just let them flow out with ease. Think of something that makes you feel relax.
