Something very personal with meaning. Write a poem, create a little treasure hunt with a candlit dinner at the end, find out his favorite author a buy a first edition book, make him something, find something he might never even think to buy for himself. It is truly the thought that counts in this case.

Go to the grocery store and buy ingredients for a special dinner (or a meal he loves). You can even go to places like Macaroni Grill or The Outback and get take-out THEN set it out for him with candlelight, soft music and intelligent conversation.
Even if you might think you can't cook, a good meal doesn't have to be difficult.
Have a romantic dinner, a desert he likes and, maybe, he'll want more of you as follow-up desert! Dress beautifully AND feel beautiful -- there is nothing sexier to a man than a woman with confidence.
With a sexy lady and good food, how could you go wrong?

The guys I date have plenty of money, so that they ussually buy whatever they want.
So I usually take them somewhere they would like(plays, car shows, motorcycle riding). It sometimes takes some thought to come up with something they would like, but haven't done.
Remember , something THEY would like,NOT something YOU would like.

You give him your time. Spend the day together doing something fun that you both enjoy. A gift doesn't have to come with a pricetag.
