I eat well, exercise well, and avoid bad for me things, but once in a while, I like to get drunk with my friends. What is the lowest cal way to do it? I know liquor has less calories than beer, but what about wine, and, what hard liquor has the least calories pound for pound?

The feeling of drunk is perpetrated with the help of a molecule called ethanol. Since the sole purpose for you is to get drunk, take some 95% ethanol from your lab, drink and QUICKLY chase with water. If you can't steal 95% ethanol from your lab, buy a substance called Everclear. It's the same thing.

NOTE: you will only need only about 40mL of this stuff to get the same buzz as a 6-pack. Yes I have tried this back in the day and I can tell you a few things to make the experience less painful.
- First, make sure you have something in your stomach before hand, 95% ethanol will damage an empty stomach.
- Second, make sure you chase with a gulp of water quickly, and don't hold the 95% ethanol in you mouth for too long, it will hurt.
- Finally, if you follow the above steps, it is perfectly safe, the only difference from drinking normal alcoholic beverages is that it will hit you much faster and harder, so be prepared.

5 years in liquor retail here>>>>>>
Here's some rules of thumb for you:
The darker and sweeter it is, the worse your hangover will be. Hangovers are caused not by the alcohol, but by the impurities in what you're drinking. The more you drink, the more impurities you're taking in, hence a hangover.
As for a low-cal solution, since you're admitting you're drinking to get drunk, this IS the best solution for you:
Alcohol is what contains 90% of the calories in alcoholic beverages. So, if you're drinking lite beer, you're not only going for a hangover due to all the impurities added to make up for lack of alcohol content, but you're going to have to drink twice as much to get a buzz. Therefore, what you want to do, is get more bang for your buck. Rather than worrying about calories, of which liquor does have more, (Because it has more alcohol in it.) you should drink whatever's the strongest, so that you get a buzz, without having to pound drinks all night long. Believe me, while your buddies are pounding away beer after beer, you can sip on a triple-shot of vodka, rum, whiskey or any other hard liquor, and get just as buzzed, but with fewer calories!

If you are doing it only every once in a while it really isn't going to make much of a difference. Especially if you are exercising regularly. I would guess that most of the clear liquors would have less calories.

But to avoid any hangovers I drink a glass of water between every drink. You might need to go to the bathroom a lot but in the morning there will be no headache.

The lowest calorie way would probably have to be drinking Everclear. It has double that alcohol that most hard liquors have so you will have to drink less of it to get drunk. But watch how much you drink, because a couple of shots will get the job done very well.

This is a very good question that I want to know the answer to as well!

For me, I quit drinking beer cause thats more of 'social drinking' and when I'm out with the friends to get drunk, I wanna get drunk. I only drink liquor, sometimes just shots and not mixed with soda because soda = calories.

And this part is silly, but I make sure to dance my butt off at the bars because the sweatier we get, the more calories I know we're burning!

Many 'health drinks' out on the market right now are not at all healthy. Things like Vitamin Water and V8 all have ridiculous sugar contents, but do have a certain level of vitamins in, so can be advertised as 'healthy'. To be properly healthy, go green tea, no sugar;) Full of anti-oxidants, which help to combat various forms of cancer. Of course, no one can manage that day in day out, so mix it up with some home-produced smoothies or some milk. Both of these are good substitutions for bottled and canned soft drinks. Hope this helps:)

Lite Beer or wine is your best bet.
Margarita and real sweet drinks have a lot of calories. But if your like me and like a more sweet drink and hate wine that taste dry and bitter. I love White Zifindale by Beringer!
I've been trying to loose weight lately and used to not drink much. Then I discovered I love Beringers White Ziffindales....I have not gained any extra pounds and I drink every weekend.

Anything dark or opaque is bad. The rule is... when drinking anything, alcohol or not, the clearer the better. Everclear is a good way to go with 190 kcal (calories) and 794 kj (energy) oer one oz serving. Try a Screaming Purple Jesus, by mixing 1 part EC to 4 part Grape Kool-Aid mix... or try a Sloppy Pussy, by mixing i liter of EC, 1 gal Gatorade Energy Drink, and 1/2 gal of fruit punch

Healthy and drunk in the same sentence is an oxymoron!

Drinking red wine is considered healthy for several reasons including being rather low in calories. But it's always stated with the phrase "in moderation" which does not cover drunk. Sorry.

If you are eating and exercising correctly, then getting drunk once in awhile isn't really going to affect your physique. (6 calories per gram of alcohol)
