Eskimos Discussing Cold?

There were these three Eskimos in Alaska, and one time while they were at their local bar, they got to talking about how cold it was outside, and how cold their igloos were. They could agree on everything but whose igloo was the coldest, so they decided to determine who, indeed, had the coldest igloo.

They went to the first Eskimo's igloo, where he said "Watch this!" and poured a cup of water into the air. Well, the water froze in mid-air and fell onto the floor. "Not bad" said the other Eskimos, but each maintained their igloo was colder still.

So they went to the second Eskimo's igloo, and he said "Watch this!" and took a big breath and exhaled, whereupon his breath froze into a big lump and fell to the floor.

"Wow, that's colder than mine!" said the first Eskimo. But the third Eskimo exclaimed his was colder still.

So they ended up at the third Eskimo's igloo. He said "Watch this!" and went into the bedroom, threw back the thick furs, and retrieved one of several small balls of ice there. He took it, put it in a spoon, and held a match under it.

When it heated up enough, it went "FFFAAAARRRRTTT". He won!

Okay.. Eskimos are ... thick. That's BETTER than fur because it allows you to go a few weeks without salmon. so.. check. The skin color of a human is indeed determined by sunlight, but it goes like this. You need to have some vitamin D, and you need to have some vitamin B. Melanin reflects very little light. You are right in observing that this would indeed raise the skin temperature of a person with darker skin. But temperature is not the enemy. You actually can do just fine in 115 degree heat as an albino as long as its dark and there is water. The enemy is UV rays. The color blue has been trying to kill us since we got here, but we evolved melanins to absorb and scatter that UV light before it can get in and disrupt the production of Vitamin B (Folic Acid deteriorates rapidly when exposed to UV light) Now.. on the other hand.. You do need some Vitamin D. And up north where the angle of the sun is all screwy for half the year and a chunk of the suns rays just bounce on off in to space, you can't go around absorbing all that light and scattering it before it can turn pro vitamin D in to proper vitamin D. So Wait you are thinking.. isn't reflecting the light just as awkward? Maybe.. it would certainly be if we somehow developed a silver shine like you said. But white folks aren't white.. they are translucent with a touch of brown (eumelanin) and bit of rouge (pheomelanin). Actually everybody is.. just that the darker the skin the more active eumelanin producing cells.. So Fat, and Vitamins B and D.
