hi Hilary
good question there. i'm a muslim so i'll give some feedback. in our religion, a woman should reveal only her face and hands that's true, but the fact that a man cannot look at a woman is definitely not true.
a woman is told to do so to preserve her dignity and honour (despite the fact that most muslim women don't give a damn to what's needed from them). and when she has revealed only her face and hands to men, she can then communicate with them easily by speech and even eye contact. this prevents men from looking at women hungrily and full of rational desire which then leads on to things with terrible consequences.
thus is in islam in order to preserve society and provide , what i may call, a tamed society.
by the way, that doesn't mean that men cannot watch telivision. exposed women are everywhere around, does that mean, in your opinion that they must ...stay at home?
certainly not
hope that enriches you, and i'd be more than welcoming any future question you have about islam

I live in a Muslim country and nearly everyone here has a TV. They are generally very conservative about what they watch and change the channel if something comes on that is not considered modest.

Muslims do not own a Televison, at least not in the United States. My Neighbors who are muslim told me this.
Owning a Television they said is strictly forbidden while living in the U.S. because of all the Millions of lies told on TV.
And they said they also do not want their children, one 4 (boy), one 8 (girl), and another
child 10 (girl) ever being exposed to all the
aweful, evil shows on american television, especially shows concerning american relationships which advocate sex before marriage.

You might think bad off a muslim for that, but
I think they are only looking out for the welfare of their family, and wish to obey - out of love,
their god.

Nothing means nothing. Nothing means everything and you should claim that you have been insulted by (it) nothing.

Now, you are on the road to understand the Koran.

Anymore questions? See my Zoo keeper, he is my new agent.

added: Bluetiger just said "I am a Muslim, men have more rights" - can you believe he would admit to that. He obviosly doesn't realize how (blank) that comment was.
