The dogs are 2 cocker spaniels, both medium size and I don't have sweaters or anything that I put on them to wear. They love to go for walks!!

I am not qualified to say. With my dog I do not let them out if temperature is 10 degrees or below. I wouldn't let them out at that temperature other than what is absolutely necessary. Exercise is necessary. The longest I have kept mine out is 10 to 20 minutes.

I have a Rotweiler who lives outside (sad case, neighbors had her, then moved and left her, and nearly starved her to death, has been inside only a few times and ate everything in sight and used the bathroom where she pleased.). She has a very thick coat. She has a heating lamp and plenty of wool blankets in her dog house. When it gets below 20 degress I put her under the house with wamred up dog food and walk her twice a day. She does fine in the cold. After the walks she always feels much warmer then before. Walk your dog, its not to cold and the poor thing is probly dieing to get out and streach his legs. After walking for a few minutes he will warm up. Dogs do not feel the cold as strongly because of their thick winter coats and they are naturly warmer then us.

If it's just cold, they'll be fine for a 30 min. walk. If there is ice or snow on the ground, you may want to consider booties for them. The salt and chemicals put down to melt ice can damage their pads, and if they have soft pads then the cold will begin to hurt after a while.

Your dog breed will be fine for you to go out for a walk. The other person is right dogs are much better equiped than we are, so when you get cold go back. Enjoy

they should be fine! my dog has very thin fur, so he shivers when he is cold (which is pretty much any time it is below 40 degree haha) spaniels have a much warmer coat. as long as they aren't shivering, and they don't appear to be favoring their feet because they are cold, a half hour should be fine! just make sure YOU bundle up!

If you get cold with a light jacket on, then they are too. You can put T-shirts on them, and duct tape up the bottom around their waist, and tighten the looseness around the neck with a rubber band during your walk... mine like walks too, but have even less hair that yours --- dobies.

My greyhounds are fine walking for about 1/2 hour in temps. as low as 0 C. They're good in temps. up to -5 C if they have their coats on, but any lower than that and the walks are considerably shorter.

dogs can put up with the cold better than people can. just bundle yourself up and if you decide that you are to cold then your dogs probably are too and you should head back to your house.
