When the queen is bred by the tom she yawls out. That is because the tom has barbs on his penis that are painful to the queen. This is what tells the queens body to release eggs and triggers her to go out of heat. My vet has told me to gently insert the bulb end of a thermometer just barely into her vagina and the cat will be signaled to go out of heat, quite the same as the natural act. It does work but if you are not real familiar with cats you would want to be very careful as you would not want to injure her.

She isn't crying because she's suffering, she's crying because she's trying to attract a male to breed with. Please don't give her any medications - she doesn't need them, and most human medications are very toxic to cats.
I do recommend that you keep her confined somewhere where you can be 100% sure that she won't get outside. A cat in heat can be amazingly good at finding ways to escape, even up to tearing out your window screens or tripping you when your hands are full of groceries. If you have a crate large enough for her to rest comfortably in and to hold her litterbox and food and water, I'd suggest keeping her in it until you can get her in to be spayed. If you don't have a crate, make sure that you don't leave any windows open, and put her in another room with the door closed with a litterbox and food & water when you have to leave the house, so she can't run out the door as you're leaving or coming in. Put her up if you're going to have guests over, too, or she may get out then. Make sure everyone in your house understands how important it is that she doesn't get out! If they don't take it seriously, then it's safer to keep her locked up in a room.
You may also want to get some earplugs so you can sleep. :-)
If you haven't already set the appointment with your vet, go ahead & do it now, for the day you'll have the money, so you won't have to wait a moment more. If your vet knows your cat is in heat, he or she may be willing to work with you on the bill and take her in even sooner. I'm glad you're getting her spayed ASAP!

Have you heard of these animal humane societies that fix your pet for you for free? They go off your income... if you dont make alot you wont have to pay alot... other than that there is nothing you can do for her, keep her AWAY from males. Keep in mind if she was a wild cat she wouldnt have the choice to take pamprin or anything like that... hope this helps!!

Ah!!! I totally know what you are going through because when I found my girl she did the exact same thing, and I couldn't get her to the vet that week!!! Anyway, I gave her some 'Rescue Remedy' which is a herbal relaxant. It helped a little. I think you just need to let her go through it otherwise. I honestly don't think they are in pain or uncomfortable, they are just doing what is natural, they are attracting mates by yowling (they want to attract as many as possible because there can be multiple fathers per litter - potentially better offspring, genetically speaking). Anyway, I know it's ANNOYING but it'll end!!! Trust me! hehehe
Good luck!

No, there isn't a Pamprin for Kitties. It's just something she's going to have to go through (and you too) for another week. She can be spayed while it heat, it may cost a bit more though.

EARPLUGS!!! (for you, not her)
I went through this a few months back... and it SUCKED. My little girl screamed all night, and stuck her butt in the faces of her confused older brothers.
Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do. I got mine done at the local ASPCA, for $35. Because I couldn't wait for the free clinic with a one month and a half waiting list!
Check with a shelter and they may know somewhere you can get done for fairly cheap like that.
My thoughts are with you....

There's nothing you can do, unfortunately.
She's in heat, that's all. She's not in pain or anything, so Pamprin would have zero effect. She'll come out of it soon and you can have her fixed then.
In the meantime, good luck sleeping! :)

She isn't in pain or anything, just horny. And you cannot get them fixed until they are out of heat anyway. Most of the time it only lasts a couple of weeks or so, just put your money aside for it so you'll be ready as soon she's out of heat.
