My 3 & ½ yo son is doing this too. That’s all he ever wants and all he ever asks for. I never considered a problem except for him not getting enough other things but, if his diet is otherwise balanced then it should be okay.
I have also taken to using this to my advantage. He likes it so much let him have a peanut butter slice as a treat instead of a cookie or candy.

I'll answer your basic question. We did wait until after 2 with my first son (that was the recomendation at the time). He did fine with it and as far as we know, has no allergies. There are also no allergies in the family, so that is a factor. With my second, he was being baby sat by my brother and they gave him peanut butter probably 18 months old. Well, there was no reaction, so pretty certain he wasn't allergic. Then he had to get allergy testing for some other problems we were having and he's definately not allergic to peanut butter. So 18 months for him. I would wait until at least 2, longer if you have peanut allergies in the family or if he is allergic to other things. It's not like he needs peanut butter to survive. I don't even understand why they would argue with you about that. It's pretty silly. You can look up the recommendations online. I believe they are currently for waiting until the child is at least 3 years old, but they'd rather you wait until they are 5 years old.

Kids go through phases where they just obsess over certain foods.
If he's gaining weight (peanut butter is really high in fat) then I'd be concerned and limit his intake. However, there is a lot of protein in peanut butter that maybe his body needs right now... hence the craving.
You might want to limit him to a certain amount each day, but if he's not plumping up I wouldn't worry too much about it. He'll move on to something else soon.

My son is a vegan and lives on peanut butter! My aunt ( a nurse) said that peanut butter is a perfect food. Just try to get the good kind all natural and if not allergic to it honey is better then jelly! Remember in Thai food peanuts & peanut butter is used like we do butter!

Peanut butter is very fatty and can cause diarrhea. But if his tummy is fine I"d say it's OK for him to eat it. Keep in mind it's not as healthy as others suggest. After all it IS butter and too much butter is never good.

i would leave him be. but if you are worried about the fat intake got to the health food store and get the organic peanut butter, it doesn't have that extra crap that they put in peanut butter, or you could get a recipe and make it yourself! try food network for a recipe. you can buy peanut butter that is no where near as fatty as jif and such. but let him eat peanut butter! he will eventually grow out of it. for those moms talking bad about this, atleast it's not chocolate, right? lol i think you are doing fine mom

Peanut butter is sweetened to taste good (check the ingredients). Yes the peanut part is healthy, but the sugar part is not. You should limit this to once a day, if even that.

Peanut butter is okay but eat so much of it and you will get constipated. I wouldn't let him each so much of it.

Peanuts and peanut butter are full of protein and fat and oils that are good for the body and joints, so leave him to it.

i lived on the stuff as a kid and got through a jar a week, every week.... great days! the chicken nuggets are worse, peanuts are full of oil and protein, keep the oatmeal thats very good, ditch the pancake batter and waffles, fruit, fresh vegetables and proper cuts of meat will give him proper nutrition, processed stuff although gives energy in instant carbs (sugars) its very poor nutrionally, you wouldnt expect a plant to thrive in poor soil, it will live but struggle, give it rich soil full of nutrients it will grow strong and healthy, -- same with us and food -- peanut butter , yum yum!
