Thank you everyone for the help. I found out that it was John Dalton who discovered color blindness in 1798. He discovered color blindness because he suffered from it.

Color blindness, or color vision deficiency, in humans is the inability to perceive differences between some or all colors that other people can distinguish. It is most often of genetic nature, but may also occur because of eye, nerve, or brain damage, or due to exposure to certain chemicals. The English chemist John Dalton in 1794 published the first scientific paper on the subject, "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours", Dalton J, 1798 "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours: with observations" Memoirs of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Manchester 5 28-45 after the realization of his own color blindness; because of Dalton's work, the condition is sometimes called Daltonism, although this term is now used for a type of color blindness called deuteranopia.

I hope this helps

Of course, the first person to actually discover color blindness may be
lost to history; however, the first major study of color blindness was
published in 1794 by John Dalton. In fact, color blindess is also called
"Daltonism".

John Dalton is probably more famous for his key work on the atomic theory
of matter - one of the most basic theories of modern chemistry, and for
Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures. If you study chemistry, you will learn
much about Dalton's early and key work. More information on John Dalton can
be found at http://www.astro.vi
rginia.edu/~eww6n/bios/Dalton.html , or you
can do a web search on John Dalton (or look him up in any encyclopedia, or
even in the index of almost any chemistry book).

It was John Dalton back in 1793, or at least he was the first person to write about it. He described it in his paper called "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours". Because he and his brother both had problems with color vision, he started doing some tests and found out, that there have to be differences in color vision of human beings.

By the way, he thought that colorblind people have the fluid inside the eye in some way colored. And therefore only certain colors really get through and the whole perception changes. His eyes were kept under closure and examined later. Only to find out, that he was wrong.
