I'm an American living in Canada at the moment, and I've noticed some Canadians believe their country is weird. This is something I wouldn't have expected before I left the United States. Do some Canadians believe this because Canada has a hard time defining itself culturally?

How do you mean "weird". Maybe your hanging out with weirdos.
I do not think the word "weird" has ever come up in any conversation I have ever had. I think most Canadians think they are more superior to Americans. And we have a better sense of humour. If I had posted this same question about Americans I would be bombarded with rude responses and insults.

If we look at weird factors, I believe the Americans out do us !!!!

Why do Americans ask such weird questions ?

I can't begin to imagine where you get that idea! Canada is a truly great country. We open our doors to the world, welcoming them..Immigrants and refugees come here with a dream and are not expected to give up their unique identities and culture and "conform".
Our land is broad, varied and beautiful! Canada is consistently of the of the Best Countries in the World to live, rated by the U.N!

And, yes, most Canadians get tired of the Superior attitude of many Americans, but when travelling, many Americans pretend to be Canadians, because the world loves Canadians. When Canadians travel, we make sure no one mistakes us for Americans!

Oh, and as for useful contributions to society in the last few hundred years....the light bulb (Edison bought the patent from a Canadian for $5ooo!), insulin, the telephone, acetylene, the Robertson screw and The Edmonton Protocol for eyelet cell transplant, to name just a few!

Oh well, we try not to let the typical American ignorance about Canada bug us too much, but I think BiffNasty meant RedGreen when he was referring to Canadian humor. Really, if you don't know what you are talking about , perhaps a little duct tape on the mouth?

I'm Canadian and I don't consider my country weird at all.
I have no idea where you got that impression from?

The only weird part about Canada is our neighbourhood. Specifically our neighbours to the south of us!
