i have a "friend" that gave me something and then she wanted it back and i told thats what indian givers do and she like " i don't give a flip about it." she is spoiled and its like she was demanding presents for her b-day. and she is like where is my present!? and grabs it out of your hands. she only gave me her twistlers but then she tried it from my other friend and she grabbed it right out of my hand. my parents teach me if you give something to someone, don't ask for it back. my parents always taught me not to like seem like a free loader. she drives me crazy she gets mad at EVERY LITTLE THING! and i am like if you wanted it why did you give it to me? and she said cuz i felt like it.

Once you give or offer a person a gift, it is theirs to do with as they choose. It would be rude to give the gift with expectations or strings attached.

Granted, it would be much more considerate of the receiver to accept the gift, then decide what to do with it, since telling a gift-giver that the gift is unwanted is ungrateful, too.

In some cases it might be a misunderstanding, someone might've handed it to you and intended it to be a loaner item rather than a gift. But this girl sounds pretty immature & inconsiderate. Try to find some new friends :)

I would not hang out with her anymore. It sounds like she is a spoiled brat. When she graduates and gets out in the real world she will not be able to handle it because everything has been handed to her.

Maybe. I think it really depends on the circumstances. Maybe in most cases it seems like it would be, but if it's a saw or some other tool, for instances, I don't think it's much of a problem.

Yep, drives me crazy. I have a sister that does that. Then I have another sister that gives things away that you gave her.

Why would you call someone an Indian giver? That's so incredibly rude. It's racist.

why is there so many "likes" in your question? ...And yes, it's kinda childish to ask for something back when they've given it to you in the first place. two point.

Yes but I would tell them next time to please just tell me the item was a borrower then a taker.
