They use plastic because its much more rigid and less likely to damage with a thinner wall.

It is also a lot cheaper to produce and uses very insignificant amounts of oil.

The fact that it weighs so much less than glass makes a huge difference, as glass can double or even triple the weight of a beverage or item - think about the little glass coke bottles you get in nightclubs and pubs sometimes. The difference in weight and thinness means that more can be packed into a lorry or truck - this makes the product much more economic and also more environmentally friendly.

If we consider these factors i would say that the use of plastic is a much more economic option especially given the high percentage of recycled plastic nowadays. Also to remake glass of the clear variety it costs a lot of money and has an expensive sorting process.

If you really want to consider environmental options look at using different coloured glass in the cutlet which would probably make all our bottles look browney green.

because of the cost of production, easier to transport, cheaper to transport and harder to break as breakages will cost money. Plastic is also more versatile for packaging. Hence the reason so much plastic is used.

Sad really more packaging should be recyclable or made from recycled products but theres so much plastic out there everyones kinda got used to it now

Glass has to be of a certian quality to be sterilized which is necessary to reuse them. The facilities to return and reuse glass are not around anymore which creates another expense. We can recycle glass(it is crushed) and it is made into many things from glassphalt to shiny road signs and new bottles. There is the safety of nonbreakable plastic to consider. Schools do not allow glass bottles.

I hate saying this. It just shows how greedy and uncaring some people can be, but plastic is used because it's cheap. Sure, it's got other properties that make it better than glass, when you drop it, it doesn't break and stuff like that, but overall it's just because it's cheap.

Because plastic is cheap and easy to produce and weighs significantly less. This means the company can put the product on the shelf much cheaper and they know that people are more obsessed with price than the environment. Unfortunately!

Well i think the main reason is so that they cost less to make, therefore cost less to buy.
Another reason I think is that plastic bottles are less dangerous than glass bottles - they dont smash, so cant cut people as easily.
