The government are pushing through a bill to give everyone the same adoption rights regardless of sexuality. The Roman Catholic Church asked them to allow an opt-out on the grounds of religious faith. Tony Blair he say no. Who's right?

Whoa... not being a citizen of the UK, I'm sure I'm missing a ton of nuances here, but I'd say that neither party is right or wrong. On one hand, I can understand the RCC wanting to have Catholic-baptized children raised by practicing Catholics, which are rarely going to be a same-sex couple. On the other hand, if people want to love a child and it's all a good fit, I would hate to see a family broken up over something like this.

I think if any gay Roman Catholic wants to refuse to adopt a child, he or she shouldn't be forced to. It just wouldn't be a healthy environment for the child.
