Microsoft Office 2000 simple formatting problem, can anyone help?

In word when I delete anything and start typing there again the new stuff that I type overwrites what I already have, I fixed this once but my dad messed with it and I dont remember how to fix it. Help please.

Look down on the status bar of MS Office Word, click on "OVR" this will turn off "Overtype", or you can change it in options. Good luck
