Good health is always important, but it isn't enough for someone with ADHD.

ADHD is believed to be cause by a lack of certain neurotransmitters (Dopamine and Norepinephrine). Also, those who suffer from ADHD have abnormally low levels of brain activity and central nervous stimulants, such as Ritalin, help to raise this.

Exercise and good health may help, but if that is all that is needed for a person to overcome ADHD, they probably didn't really have it to begin with.

Yes, a healthy diet is always the best place to start. There is also significant research on the relationship between ADHD and insufficient Omega-3 fatty acids.

The problem with ADHD is that the modern American diet is jam packed with refined sugars and kids spend their time playing video games and we wonder why they can't focus on anything... then we give them a stimulant and use the fact that they are more productive as proof of the diagnosis.

Not saying diet and exercise will cure ADHD everytime, but really, what harm is there is being more healthy before giving children, with still developing brains, psychoactives?
