Wife been suffering from Fibromyalgia for past 4 years. None of the meds docs have tried help - only make her feel worse. Wife feels "crappy" every day, muscle aches all over mostly every day, and feels tired and worn out daily, even though she gets sufficent sleep at night. Does anyone know of anything that really works to help with Fibromyalgia other than the meds that docs try to use to help with the problem? Warm water makes wife feel better while she's in the bath or at warm water exercise classes, but as soon as she gets out, she feels lousy and sore again. Anyone tried something that really works to help counter the effects of Fibromyalgia?

Getting a correct diagnosis...???

My Mom was diagnosed for Fibromyalgia & Asthma for 16 yrs... until she was put in the ER and given an emergency Trachea placement. Turns out she had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and the negligent care resulted in her developing a 75% occlusion of her trachea and cancer. She also never had Asthma.

I was being diagnosed for Fibromyalgia at the time and in denial (was afraid of "living" like my Mom had to). After finding out she had Hashimoto's, I got the right tests run and diagnosed w/ Hashimoto's Thyroiditis too. I also have Chronic Anemia... but I do not have Fibromyalgia. I have been getting the correct treatment for the past 3 yrs... and I am almost back to "normal".

Fibromyalgia is a throw away disease. In a few cases it may be real... but for the vast majority of the people I have known since Mom got diagnosed, it has been (mis)used to diagnose just about anyone they didn't know how to diagnose.

First: GET A NEW DR!!!!!! I found my Endocrinologist was the best help. He was able to get me to a Hematologist, Rheumatologist, and other Drs who were able to really help me get better.
I'm turning 30... my life is ahead of me and I don't want to be thrown away. I bet your wife is just as depressed as I have been. Support her getting mental help too b/c going through so much pain and not having answers really does a nasty turn on a person.

I wish I could talk to her and give her some hope. At least give her a Hug for me. X

I have had fibro for 20 years. I am 41 years old now. I went to so many different doctors I lost count. I was on so many different meds I don't remember them all. Then 2 years ago I read something about accpuncture. I looked in phonebook to find some one where I lived there was only two at that time. I had tried before that massage and chroptor every once in a while. The massage would make me feel better a little but then I would feel bad again. I went and had accupuncture ,a hour of deep massage and then an adjustment. I did this once week for 2 month then once a month for 2 more months. I noticed results right away. I slepted soundly for first time in years.I was a little sore the next two days but it was a good sore. I have been pain free two years. I go about every 3 to 4 months for a tune up. I go when I start feeling a little muscle pain. I feel great now and I would go more often if I could afford it. If you have insurance sometimes they will pay for this. The insurance I had did. I lost my insurance and now pay 110 dollars per visit. That is for all three things. I would go more often if I had the money. It just make me so relaxed. I have been pain free for two years now and a only have slight tender spots on my body. It is nothing like the knots I used to have in my back and I don't feel like I have the flu all the time. I almost feel back to my old self. Make sure you find someone who can really do deep tissue massage. Some are not as good as others. I really don't know about the accupunture if some are better or I was just lucky in the one I found. I take no meds now except for thyroid and imtrex for migranes. I don't know if this works for everyone but it did for me. Good luck.

My son has fibromyalgia at the age of 11 and so far nothing works super wonderfully well. He is on neurotin and naprosyn and tylanol w/codeine when the pain is at its worst . We only got this diagnoses about 4 months ago. I do know that even though it hurts if he stays active he feels better so he just does what he can slowly. He rhumy dr said that to have him swim and to use thermacare heat wraps when he hurts
