I have been on disability for several years and as a result of a judgment against me, my SS disability checks are being garnished. I know there is a system in place for this; just having a heck of a time finding it.

Try starting on this site:

http://studentaid.ed.gov/students/publications/repaying_loans/2003_2004/english/loan-discharge-cancellation.htm

where they talk about that -- there should be links there for you to follow to see what to do.

And this might be the form you need to have filled out:

Good luck.

contact your lender and ask for a "total disability" deferment. They will know what you are talking about. IT is a form that you and your MD must sign.. It is a 1 time deal only. I had mine written off or d/c. GL

You would want to contact your lender directly. They would give you the information necessary as far as who to contact regarding loan forgiveness.
