Seriously, the best type of excercise is whatever you actually enjoy. It is best for your body to engage in varied activities anyhow. I recommend going to your local library to check out their workout videos. Pick out various titles and give them a try to see what you like best and what matches your fitness level. Once you figure that out, you can buy some videos to have on hand. Also think about what sorts of active hobbies interest you. Bike riding, hiking, dancing (can do it in your living room), long brisk walks, roller blading, playing frisbee or volleyball at the park... of course the list goes on and on. Anything that gets the heart rate up is good for losing fat, and I find Pilates to be the best for strength training and stretching. Watch your diet, though. Lots of people who start working out/living a more active lifestyle consume waaaaaay more calories without even thinking about it. Obviously you don't want to deprive your body of the sustenance it needs, but if you consume as many more calories as you're burning, you won't see the weight come off (although you will still be healthier). Good luck!

There's so much advice it's over-whelming! Plan 2 work hard & visit doctor - some 1 who knows U & problems U need 2 avoid. Plan Ur exercise time, rest, staying hydrated & nutrition 4 stress! B gentle 2 avoid injury, exhaustion, over-work. Check heart rate often & know signs of fatigue /injury. This can change life & form habit. Work w/ partner 2 help U stay motivated. Reward ur- self, measure & note progress w/ chart or graph. That may b counter productive, tho if U don't improve & become discouraged! Doing fun exercises U like shood help with this. My faves: swim, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga.

I've tried every form of exercise and the most effective for me was when I tried light weight training. It only took 15 minutes of lifting light weights 3 times a week, combined with walking (light cardio) 3 times a week. I watched what I ate and I lost 20 lbs in 3 months.

I was told that if you build a layer of lean muscle mass under your fat layer, it's the best way to burn that fat layer away. You can actually burn away the fat while you're at rest too.

You didn't indicate if you have access to a gym or not - this is critical to know if we're going to recommend some routines for you to do. If you do (and I hope you do), then consider something like the elliptical machine. This is a fairly effective cardio machine that burns calories a lot faster than, say, the treadmill. It also delivers more of a total body workout, and most people who use it report seeing results fairly fast. Clean up your diet, too - avoid refined sugars, and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and lean protein sources.

Walking is actually the best form of exercise, you burn more calories walking for 45 minutes than you would running. You can also do crunches and lunges/squats to boost muscle tone. Walking with weights will build your arm strength.

You need a good balance of cardio and weights. Do something that you enjoy and won't become bored with. You also need to watch your diet, cut carbs and just have lots of good protein and green vegetables. You can do it.

cardio and HIIT.
both allow you to lose/melt the fat and tone your body. remember to eat and drink accordingly or you'll just be burning your muscle and not your fat.
