Most comedy clubs will have an open mic night. Just look up local comedy clubs in your area and sign up. That's how my friend started. He eventually made some connections and toured with other comedians around the country.

Being funny is something you'll have to work on for yourself....unfortunately, some people are better than others. My buddy always said his biggest goal wasn't to make the audience laugh, rather, he always tried to make the other comedians laugh. Being respected among your peers in this profession always goes a long way.

Good luck.

Everyone will say this! By standing up on your feet on a stage and tell jokes. Seriously start with friends and family. Story tellers with funny observations are the best comedians! Like why do birds crap during flight, won't you if you looked down!

First you need to write some funny material. You can try it out on family and friends. Then you go to an audition at a comedy club. And if they like you, they let you perform. If people like you, you develop a following and you get more and more gigs. Then you appear on Letterman or Leno and you get your own T.V. show. Good luck to you and keep making people laugh. The world needs more comedians.

Most large cities have comedy clubs, with Open Mike Night. Call the comedy clubs in your city and ask when they hold open night.

Attend an Open Mike night and watch your competition. When you feel comfortable, sign-up for Open Mike Night and see how you do in front of the audience.

Get up off your chair and start telling jokes Monday night at the Comedy Store. That would be amateur night and that is how many of the greats got started.
