You are insolent. Money given the church...Catholic or otherwise and I am so tired of the Catholic bashing even though I am a protestant...goes by percentage to different things. A large portion of it pays the bills...just like your money does. Another large portion goes to "good works"...that would be like...well like...Hurricane Katrina victims. How much do you give to them?

In 2005, a young woman, with the help of two boys, tried to rope her grandfather of $4 million he kept in a vault in his home. He was killed in the process, but the reasons given for the money was that he was very good in the real estate market. So, was he taking money from the church, or hiding profits from the IRS?

Not including the salaries of Pastors, a lot of money goes to the upkeep of unnecessarily large churches. Instead of teaching every member to be teachers and preachers, and to lead their own congregations, so that a church does not need to get larger than 200 members, that only preach at their followers, giving them what they think they need to know.

A church need be no larger than the size of a large home. It can hold up to four congregations, each with their own elders and pastor. When they out grow it, build another church to hold four new congregations. This limits the cost and eliminates the need to pay anyone to preach and teach.

the preachers salary is determined by vote - and you should have participated on that?! it is public knowledge and you can find it on a summary of funds - go see the treasurer for a copy - most of your money goes back into the building- electric- yard up keep, pastor, some churches pay the assistant pastor and the music director as well- again, public knowledge, just ask. about 10% of your money actually helps anyone outside the church- aka- charities- poor- widow etc.... so... hope you enjoy the sermons.....this is not what Jesus intended for us to do with our money- keep a building- and get our ears tickled!!!! read your Bible- put your money elsewhere - find a charity worth it!!! and if your pastor really enjoys what he does, let him sell his BMW and get a regular car and give the extra to the poor!!!!!

I bet you aren't the only one asking that question. If this is a private organization he does not have to open his books to scrutiny except to the IRS. There have been a lot of scams exposed lately regarding church funds. It certainly is not very wise to be spending money on lavish cars. By the way , I was at a gas station in Toledo when a truck came in with the $6000 dog that used to belong to Jim and Tammy Faye Baker. It had been bought at auction.

You should ask for a financial report on church Income and Expenses.

Edit: The government does not pay for church maintenance. A church is self supportive. I was a church Treasurer for a number of years.

Your money goes to different places. Some goes to pay the pastor his salary. Some goes to a building fund for your Church. Some to a maintenance fund. Some goes to support the needy. Some to support medical providers. Some to support missions. There are many different needy places your little ten percent is distributed to. Don't you believe your Priest deserves to live just as well as anyone else. Shame. BB

You must not be Roman Catholic then, because all those priests get paid a very small stipend.

Of course, he could have money from his family, which is not against the rules.

It's suppose to go towards the Pastor(s) salary, church bills, sowing seed into other outreach ministries, funding different activities, different ministries within that church, etc...However God is leading that church organization, after everything that is needed has been paid.

When you give tithes or offerings give as if you were giving to Jesus. Once you give, what they do with the money is on them (and God will judge them accordingly). Give out of a pure heart.... God tells us to give our tithes and offerings in Malachi 3, as a believer.

if you go to a catholic church, you probably do
not want to know.
I know a catholic priest who tends bar at a far away resort on his days off, in spite of taking many, many gifts from the little old ladies of the congregation.
I know of another catholic priest who spends his days of with his wife and kids; unknown to the church.
