get your credit report first, do NOT ever talk to these people on the phone.
www.truecredit.com is about $15/mo put it allows you to pull your credit report daily.
next, go read up at www.creditboards.com forum about how to get all that debt validated and start the process of getting it removed.
NEVER pay a debt unless they have put it in writing that they will removed the listing from your credit report withing 10 business days of cashing your check for the debt.
Oh, and never trust a debt collector. NEVER.

You would first need to get a copy of your credit if you have a friend who is the mortgage business get them to explain the details of your credit report. The things that you discover are not yours contact the credit bureaus and have them put an identity theft alert on your credit report you can then write letters to the credit bureaus disputing these items or go to there websites and dispute them( website is easier) make sure you have all account numbers and when asked on the websites check the box that apply to you which will be (not my account). If the credit bureaus don't contact you within 30 days they usually will take them off.The thing with this is that you have to stay on top of the credit bureaus. Good Luck

do not talk to them.they will say anything and intimidate you any way they can.contact those 3 credit bureaus and write a letter of dispute if in fact they are reported to them.do not believe the collectors though.I have dealt with this situation and had to have a company here in my town dispute it for me and again just recentley there are 2 things that has showed up on my husbands reports that we have no idea why they are there.one is for a gas station that we don't even nor have we ever gone to.Good Luck.I am sure you will be able to fix this mess and it will take a little time but it is worth it to keep your credit clean.

Contact the debtor (collection Agency) and let them know you want to contest the debt as per the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collation Protection Act) As for not talking with them that is bad advice, you want to talk, but under NO circumstance give them any money as payment on a debit is acceptance of the debt.

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and get your free credit reports to make sure they are not reporting to your credit report. then you need to contact the bureaus and flag the said collection accounts with possible fraud alerts. Contact your state's attorney general and see what they can do for you regarding possible identity theft. Also inform the collection agency that these items may have been opened fradulently and that you will need to know who your lawyer and the state's attorney general needs to contact in their company regarding this matter.
Also, request what proof they have that these accounts are yours. You would want signed contracts, applications, etc etc. Especially with signatures, your signture is on file with every finanical area you're involved in...current credit cards, your bank account, etc etc

You need to get tough with the collectors and get threaten to sue, etc. For examples of what exactly to say, see Dave Ramsey's website www.daveramsey.com or call his office, he has counselors that help people everyday to deal with creditors like this. (He also helps people get out of their own debt but he also helps in situations like yours.)
