Why does everything value following a book (bible) that tells you to think ONE way (cult-like)....or else you will burn in a firey hell for eternity? Where has the value of individuality gone in our society? The ability to think for oneself and to question the validity of others?

People have always grouped together. It's a normal human trait. People don't like it when others don't conform to certain standards, or "go against the grain". I see this in believers and non-believers.

Since certain religions have that "borg" mentality, that everyone must be a part of their collective, and that resistance is futile.
