Some people just react differently. I know when my daughter was little, if she took even a SIP of my frozen mocha she'd be OUT within ten minutes (till she was 5 or so). Not like I'd go around giving her coffee... but when it's the only thing to drink and it looks like a milkshake... ya HAVE to give in and let her have a sip!

Just like how ritalin is a "downer" for kids, but an "upper" for adults, and how most anti-depressants have a depressant effect on teenagers. Some people just react differently. I do not get drowsy from benadryl, though I know many people who cannot function after taking it. Try decaf and see if it helps. It might just be that a warm drink is soothing and makes you sleepy... or it might be the caffeine having a reverse effect on you.

it probably makes you tired, because it is a hot drink. Because usually people will give babies a warm bottle of milk, and it will make them fall asleep. And also, caffeine doesnt work right away when you drink a coffee, it will take about 45 minutes or so to make you hyper, and wide awake.

I can drink a whole pot of coffee and still go to sleep.
