My classmate in college Drinks and smokes pot..and is usually high and drunk during class..
but HE is the top 3 % in the whole junior class..he is unbelievely smart..I asked him to help me to do the hardest math problems and he can solve it at the TOP of his head..but yet..asides from school..all he does is..PARTY and gets messed up..but still gets straight A's and manages to be top 3 %
I don't party ..do drugs..drink..all i do is study..and try to do my best..but My best NEVER beats this guy..he will still always get the highest score on quizes
how can he be soo smart and still drink and smoke pot?

Some people are just plain smart and that's just the way it is. However, if he keeps this up much past graduation and you continue studying and diligently looking for a job, then who do you think will come out on top? You will and he'll be jealous!
Don't worry - there are incredibly smart people who act like idiots and stupid people who sometimes teach the world a thing or two.
You keep working hard and you will do just fine in this world - you worry about yourself, not him (or anyone else!).

Smoking pot is harmful to us, over a period of time, brain cells deteriorate in quality, if not function even. It has been known to create memory loss.
So whether or not this guy is smart now, if he keeps up his habit, in the long run he WILL be the stupidest guy ever.
He is gifted wth great intelligence that could be utilised to its utmost potential, instead he chooses to drink and do soft drugs.
Not so smart after all huh?
See, intelligence is one thing, being smart is another. A strong work ethic and having the right priorities (like you) would score in the top 1 % for me anyday.

Some people are just "smart" like that naturally. However, don't let it discourage you. While he may be super smart and not have to try to get straight "A's" the road he is on leads to trouble. He may get arrested and be ruined or if he does ever get a job and keeps doing what he is...he'll ruin that. He is his own distruction and if he continues he will pay the price. Keep up with what you are doing...it's hard being in college and I respect you for behaving like you are. You'll go far with what you are doing. Don't worry about the grades.

face it some ppl are really smart.
that is smart!!
studying for an exam remembering it by heart and writing it all down the next day doesnt even get near to smart.
consider ureself lucky that this guy s doing pot and alcohol as he would be just a a bit smarter than he already is.

because he just is. what you should focus on is yourself. you are smart too, and in more than one way because you are not smoking and drinking away our life. what you are doing is stressing out too much about someone else! don't worry about him!
also, think about how smart this guy could be if he really put his total effort into it. i mean....the person who is suppossed to cure cancer for the world could be at a frat party right now! but he won't cure cancer, because he's too busy drinking. he may be book smart, but he's not very smart to drink and smoke his college days away. one drinking bindge, or bad patch of pot and this guys life could be over.
just focus on your own life and don't compare yourself. we all have talents and not everyone can be good at the same things. your jealousy is much more distructive to your grades than this guy is.

Actually, the demographic of pot smokers is strange. In general, the average pot-head has a higher IQ than non-potsmokers.
This guy would make straight A's no matter what.
Drinking and smoking pot doesn't mean that you are unintelligent. I don't know why you would relate the two anyway.
Don't be jealous, he is just smarter than you are. I'm sure that you have some skills that he doesn't have.

i dont know but you never really know a person. he could be paying someone to do his work. or it could be a personal facade that he parties. he may just be good at memorization. i dont think hell have the endurance to go far tho. he might be able to spit out a few problems, but he wont be able to engage in the real world intoxicated trust me. i knew some potheads that went to mit back in the day. they are not going too far these days. there are book smarts and practical smarts.
