Try looking on web sights for pet names. If your puppy is going to be registered then you have to come up with a name no one has used before. Otherwise, keep the puppy for a few days and you will find just the right name for it's personality. I personally like Cricket or Rascal. My chihuahua puppy needs to be registered so I named her Chantilly Blossom and call her Blossom. I think it's a very nice fit for her. However I like unusual names like Buggy or Ducky - something fun!

It depends on the breed and sex, but try to think of something that will be cute when the puppy is grown, too. I have a dachshund and her name is Mia Weiner--she is named after Mia Hamm. My sister names her puppies based on a particular characteristic or situation. For example, she had to hide her puppy from her husband so she named him Andy Frank.

What kind of puppy? Male or female?

We get litters of pups at our shelter very often, and have to name them. One time, we gave a whole litter "French" names: Bijou, Jean Luc, Philip, Monique, Isaboe, Emil... Another time, we gave a litter "Southern" names like Bobbie Lee, Brandeen, Cletus, Wilbur, Zeek, Roscoe Brown, etc.

I have a small yorkie that I was going to name Yo-Yo because he just jumps up and down like crazy. It so fits him, but I decided to name him Janni (pronounced Johnny) Knoxville because we live in Knoxville and Janni is the combined names of my husband, daughter and me!!

I think naming a pet should mean something to you, the pet and be fun!! You want to be happy with it 5 years down the road when you're calling the pet by the same name :)
