roughly 40 btu per sq ft (assuming an energy efficient house), so 3200-3700 sq ft. Don't forget to factor high ceilings and inefficiency.

heating and air conditioning companies use a somewhat complex method of calculating heat loss- taking in factors such as window thinckness & number of panes, number of doors and windows, construction material of the structure. etc. ceiling height. and several other factors.

There are a few rule of thumb ways to measure, but they usually don't come near the accuracy of having a professional make the calculation. here is a short-form tool you can use to get a rough idea.
