I know that using compact fluorescent bulbs will save both in electricity and in how long the bulbs last. My question is would I save even more by using L.E.D's? I have heard that they use less electricity and last even longer.

LEDs are more efficient than fluorescent bulbs I saw a 120LED light that uses 4 watts I believe it was an eq light output of a 60 watt bulb could be wrong on the equivlent light output but I know it used 4 watts
One of the best parts about LEDs is they last longer even when turned on and off thousands of times compared to CFLs and incandesents which wear out more quickly. They also don't contain mercury however they do contain lead. they also don't have to warm up to get to full brightness. The only real downside is the upfront expense which is enormous compared to other forms of lighting.

Well, if you can find 120VAC LEDs, yes. Most LEDs are under 24VAC.

You'd be much better off simply being consistent about turning off lights when not in a room. Most people simply turn on a light when they walk into a room, and then leave it when they walk out. If this is about saving energy (and money), developing a routine where you turn out lights, don't leave appliances running, and use fans to better distribute A/C and heating is much easier than going out and spending a lot of money and not looking at the root cause. Financial analysts call this calculating a return on investment.

Same thing with cars. You could trade in your sedan on something smaller, but if your goal is to save money you must consider all the implications, like does the money saved in gas equal the car payment AND the car's depreciation. Keeping a car tuned and the tires properly inflated pay for themselves much faster than buying a new car. We'd be talking about extreme changes to get that ROI... like trading in your Suburban for a Prius. But, I digress...

Yes, but not just now.
Incandescent light bulbs are 10% efficient, while fluorescents are 30 to 40%.
LED's should get to 60% or more, BUT such very efficent white LED's are not out on the market just yet. See link (from one year ago).

The efficiency of LEDs is not as good as you think but they have a very long life. Fluorescents are better energy savers.

yes, L.E.D's does not give of heat only light and therefore does not use that much electricity as florescent bulbs do because they give of heat and light.
