I have OCD and I used to be on Effexor but it had se*x*ual side effects, couldn't achieve org. etc. So I want to change and I have an appt w/ my dr to discuss this. I just wanted to know if people that have OCD have had good results w/ Wellbutrin.
Also I read that wellbutrin is known to not cause se*x*ual side effects.
If not what med have you use for OCD that didn't affect you se*x*uallity?

this is more like a try and see. First talk to your dr and if your dr agree try Wellbutrin w/ your dr consent of course and see what happens. I use wellbutrin and no problems w/ libido, good luck

I've been on both and do a lot of research on psych meds. Effexor is one of the worst meds as far as sexual side effects go. Hands down. Whoever said it doesn't is flat out wrong. It's an extremely common side effect of it (as with the SSRI's as well.) Wellbutrin has a very low risk (if any) of this problem and for me, it has never been an issue with this medication. Sometimes they even add Wellbutrin to try to counteract the sexual side effects of other antidepressants (although personally, this technique did not work for me.) For me, Wellbutrin doesn't effect sex/desire/ ability to orgasm in any way. The risk of seizures with this med is 1 in 1000 people, but it's true that you should not take it if you have ever had seizures (or certain other things like head injury or eating disorder.) It's not a medication known for problems with withdrawal upon discontinuation and since the XL form comes only in 150 or 300 mg, there is very little slow tapering that can be done when going off of it.

I have OCD and I have tried many SSRIs out there. I did not try Wellbutrin. Please be aware that while it may not cause sexual side effects it can be a very bad drug for some people. If you are prone to having seizures, DO NOT take this medication. Also if you do start taking it do not get off cold turkey if you don't like it. It can cause seizures. You must taper off of it slowly.
I think having OCD in itself can affect your sex drive because of the symptoms of OCD and depression it causes.
I haven't found a medication yet that has worked for me. My last psy doc said that I am "treatment resistant"....

I can only comment on Wellbutrin and Effexor. Both of them have relatively low impact on the libido. However, I do believe that the sexual side effects of Effexor (XR) are less than Wellbutrin. So you might want to check with you MD.

Wellbutrin made me worse.I take trazadone at night now.It helps.But makes sex last longer,and with arthritis,boy my joints are sore for days.Wife is happy.
P.S. It makes it stay lets say at 20 PSI all day. You know 45PSI to make it.

Medicine is not the answer for OCD.
