you should pay if u want to use that doctor again. However, once a bill reports as a collection on your bureau nothing will make it come off. They will report that bill as paid in full, but it wont help your credit. Your credit report will still show that that bill went to collection. The question you should ask your self is, Is that money to pay that bill worth giving when it doesnt help my credit. Dont worry, even with a collection, you'll be able to buy a car or house and still get credit cards. ALso, make sure they report to all three credit bureaus: equifax, trans union and experian

You need to pay it to get it out of collections. The sooner the better. Ask them to send a letter offering you the 70% settlement so you have it in writing. Then after you pay it keep a copy of your canceled check or your money order receipt with that letter. In the future if it shows on your credit, you have proof you paid it.

Sure, you should pay it if they'll take that much off what's owed. Ask for them to give you the letter, though...never rely on a company to update the credit bureaus. Once you have this letter, go to the 3 credit bureau sites and file a dispute, asking for the balance to be changed to zero.
