is it possible that what the cows are fed affect how their meat tastes?

Absolutely. In europe, corn is feed for livestock; and isn't eaten as much by humans. In America, we feed our cattle a mixture of grains as we have more land to grow grain. Grain is cheaper to grow, but takes up more land. Europe is kinda low on land, so it is better to grow higher yielding crops. One of the reasons why Kobe beef is so tasty and expensive is because the cows are fed better food. Think about it, if what you eat can make you fatter or thinner, have energy, or make you break out, wouldn't it make you taste differently? This is true with milk, as well. A cow's milk can be ruined for weeks if they get into cabbidge or onion. Same thing with bees and honey.

What an animals is fed is one of the prime factors in how their meat will taste. An animal fed on processed feeds and other rubbish will never taste as good as an animal left to eat natural fresh food. The BSE outbreak in Britain was down to cattle being fed food which contained other animal remains - disgusting! I have to add that this is only the intensively reared animals, we produce some excellent properly reared beef here in the UK.

Other factors in the way meat tastes are the breed of the animal, it's age, how much excercise it has had and how long the meat has been hung for.

Yes diet affects taste. It affects the taste of butter, cheese and meat. And no cattle in this country do not spend most of their time in close quarters they do range as in eat green stuff. Many are finished in feed lots however, it increases the fat content or marbling for flavor. Just the different in the type of grass how fast it is growing can affect the taste of cheese. Other factors are the breeds being raised. When I lived in Germany Italian and French beef were the best.

The same type of meat will taste different in both countries, as in both countries the animal feed will not be the same. Different feed will produce different flavours. Even if the animal was fed the same type of feed i.e wheat, the meat will still taste different. This is because the feed was obtained from different sources i.e different farms, which has different nutrition because of the different composition of the soil and fertilizer that is used. As no two soils or fertilizer composition will be exactly the same, would result in the animals eating different type of feed and therefore tasting differently. In other words the animals are reared differently.

YES it's the different feed will give the cattle a different taste,BUT it also could be on the issue of how long they are aged for.also how the life style of the farm like is ie:if the animals are running or moving alot the meat will be on the tough side rather than a cow who is more relaxed.

England wouldnt tolerate the way its done in america. Cows are meant to eat grass and plants. In america, farm animals are kept in tight pens, not allowed to graze, and fed a diet of grains and organs from other dead cows. They are injected with growth hormones to hasten their growth, antibiotics to treat illnesses due to deplorable living conditions, and steroids. Then, after slaughter, they are injected with antimicrobial solutions to disinfect the meat....the solutions contain wheat, soy, and bleach or hydrogen peroxide. In England, the animals are fed a natural diet, and dont have the same practices we do in the states. No wonder the meat tastes better in England. I was born and raised there, and when I moved to the states I wondered the same thing. Once I did the research, I gave up meat. I do eat it when I visit England tho.

The difference in taste is due to the aging of the beef. A practice used more in England than here in USA.

Yes, the feed does affect it, as well as the environment, and how it's stored and aged. Also some different types of cow taste different, like angus.

chorizo... definite ,quite some kinds ( type ) there is many recipes in many cultures,in spite of the undeniable fact that the most perfect mexican form chorizo beef and beef were made by potential of the PEYTONS MEAT PROCESSING plant in EL PASO,TEXAS i do not understand if the plant nevertheless exist's this is been about 30 yrs because i change into there , besides they used to go back in string ropes very like butcher keep links identity fry them and performance them for breakfast /or crumbled with different mexican concocktions i might want to arise with ,definite they're scrumptious !!
