The crack industry goes in cycles. We are currently on a crack upswing, after a lull in the late 90s. Queens is suffering the same ills that most other metropolitan areas are, and will mostly have to wait it out, unless of course cocaine and crack are legalized.

It seems that Queens has become a haven for illegal immigrants. The rise of Mexican gangs in Corona, and the resulting fight for drug territory with MS13 has caused a sharp increase in murders....Far Rockaway also has its problems with Housing Development wars for turf...i.e. Arverne, Edgemere, Hamill, Oceanview....and of course, don't forget the Asian gangs in Flushing....I think you should move to the relative peace and quite of Brooklyn....lol
