Question adressed to christians : let's say there's a man that helps people out, he never does any wrong, he does that because he wants to make a difference, not for the money, or whatever.
But this man doesn't believe in God...he believes in the evolution theory, but at the same time he doesn't try to change others' beliefs.
So, we have a man that acts like a saint, but doesn't believe in God.... what happens to him? Will he go in heaven or hell?
I was told he would go in hell, but i find that pointless...

Jesus said that there is only one way to God. It is through him. Failure to accept Jesus as your saviour, for your sins, will curse you to eternal death.

And, the standard is high. Being good is not good enough. One would have to live a sinless life. And the ultimate sin is failure to accept the death of Jesus as an offering for your life.

What happens to him? There is only one fate. You can listen to the testimony of Bill Weise on http://www.SpiritLessons.com and find out what life in hell is like. That will be the fate.

The point is, God has told us how to avoid that fate. What is pointless is to ignore all the warnings and go there anyway (by one's own choosing).

So, then you get the question: What about those that never hear about Jesus (the ones in the farthest remote jungles that never heard of God or Jesus)?

In everybody's soul, is a "sense" that there is more out there. For the person that never hears (and in the context of this conversation, you have heard, therefore you are accountable), I think there is less accountability. If the person acknowledges that there is a God, then (I believe) that God will show mercy on him.

He's either a buddha or bodhisattva, or on the way to being one, and could take rebirth in a deva realm or a realm where he could practice the Dharma constantly.
