I am a short woman, only 5'1. I dont have much torso for my baby to "live in". Right now I am 25.5 weeks and I notice that when I am sitting upright, leaning slightly forward, I feel him kicking very very low in my uterus. Almost so low that it feels like he is past the "crease" in my belly (where my belly meets my pelvic area).

My belly is very full - The "bump" is all the way from right under my breasts, to the crease.

Is it possible for me since there is not a lot of room, to squish him? I know the uterus protects him, but I sometimes feel like Im cutting him in half if I bend over, or sit upright.

Thanks for your answers! I really appreciate it. (Sorry if this question is dumb) :)

No you wont' sqush him I had a similar problem if you have to bend over spread you legs further apart so your belly can get in between them .I know I was so big squatting wasn't an option I could never have gotten back up. My Husband eventually had to shave my legs and I started wearing flip flops (summer baby) cause I couldn't put any other shoes on by myself. This also works for sitting down. My second son was so big and I'm only a litltle bigger than you that I would have to wrap my hand s under my belly sit down spread my legs and then let go and let my belly settle between them. my last month I actually had to sit on the edge of my seat and spread my legs so my belly was between my legs and pretty much off the seat to be comfortable and my car seat was leaned way back. A questioon isn't dumb if you don't know from inexperience. Being pregnant for the first time everything makes you wonder if you're doing it right or if things are ok. Congrats and good luck. I hope this helps

I am also 5'1. Don't worry, you cannot squish your baby by doing normal activities, but you do need to stop if it hurts you. Your baby will make enough room for himself - as you noticed, from right under your breasts all the way down, and then out even farther!

Towards the end of my pregnancy, I found that I didn't have enough room to breathe if I sat upright... I had to lean back to be comfortable.

No.. I'm 5'2 and was just like that. I think the smaller you are, the more you feel like you don't have enough room for your baby in there. Cause I was like that but I learned that the women's body is an amazing thing and being pregnant really is a miracle, your skin and everything stretching and transforming and doing things that you never thought could be possible. It's cool how your body just knows what to do to keep your baby safe and help him grow. Your baby is pretty much protected in there, so don't worry and if ever there is anything wrong, you'll know.

I had the same problem when I was pregnant. I was 5' tall and weighed almost 160 lbs at 25.5 weeks, I looked like the good year blimp and beleive me as active as I was durning my pregnancy if it were possible to squash the baby, my son would have been dead from the get go. when you bend over and cause discomfort to the baby, he just moves. That is why you feel him kicking. He actually isn't "kicking " you but "squirming" away to be comfortable. Good luck with the baby.

No worries, you wont squish him. Babies have a great way of making room in there even if you are short. It'll get more difficult to bend over and sit down and sit up, but most women have those issues during pregnancy, anyway.

I would suggest getting regular massage to help your body adapt to all the changes and ease the aches and pains.

Good luck.

I don't think height is a factor, your baby will have plenty of room to grow. I'm also 5'1" and I had 3 children and was huge every time, but never ran out of room. In fact, my son weighed 9 lbs. 15 oz. at birth and I had a 52 inch waist when I was 9 months pregnant with him. I looked like an oompa loompa!!!! If I could survive him, then I'm sure you'll be fine! Congratulations!!!

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. I am not short, but I had twins and I felt the same way. When I would get into certain positions, my son would literally creep up under my ribs for more room. Your body will protect him. And don't worry, if they need room, they will find it. My son would push his way out onto the right side of my body. It looked like an alien was coming out my ribcage.
You will be fine!

it's not a dumb question , you will have enough room for your baby don't forget he is in a water sac to protect him as well ,if the hospital have any concerns you would have been told by now, i am 5'8 and very long bodied my baby's were 4'lb my sister-in-law is 5'1 her baby was 10'8 so it has nothing to do with it in the end, they do ask you at the hospital as to what size shoes you hake this has somthing to do with the size of your pelvis so if you have tiny feet you could have a problem giving birth , but i think you would have been told by now. good luck,

It's not a dumb question. It's a funny question that I also asked. I'm 5'3!!! No you can't squish him. Trust he's going to make enough room for himself. We may not like it but they do!! It will drive you crazy but for now he has free reign over our bodies. It will be okay. I promise. Your body was made to do this. I hate to tell you he's going to get a lot bigger but your body will make room. Sometimes I feel like he's tangled in my ribs. LOL I know it will be okay though. Your uterus is God's shock absorption system. It was built to protect little ones.

Haha- I love this question- because I wondered the same thing when I was pregnant- but you would be surprised how well protected and flexible babies are. As long as you are being careful and just moving as you normally would (or best you can with belly!) then everything will be just fine.
