Depends on the type of reel you have. Aside from that, once you've got the line on put a swivel on the free end (where the hook goes) and attach a medium to large bubber. Take your rig to a stream or river and cast it out. Let all the line spool off 'til it reaches the end. (Hopefully you've tied it to the reel.) Let the current take it down stream, rewind and do it several times. This will take the kinks out of the line and help it lay back down smoothly on the reel.

Thread the line through to rod guides starting at the farthest away from the reel. Continue threading the line through each one until you get to the reel. Now thread the line through the line guide on the reel. I always want it to go under the spool. Then I use a pair of forceps or pliers to grab the end of the line, pull extra line from the spool (makes it easier to work with) the tie a knot around the spool. If you have someone there have them hold the line if not just set it down and start reeling slowly, the line spool will be all over the place but no biggie. Make sure to watch the line going onto the reel, that it is not bunching up on one end. Put as much as needed, and you're ready.Good Luck.

The best way to do so is run the line through the top hoop at the end of the pole and run it through all the loops up to the reel. There should be a little notch to tie on to from there. Stick a pencil through the hole in the line container, grab a friend, and just have him hold on to the pencil while you simply reel in as much line as you want. (there should be specifications on the reel.)

first of all don't buy the cheap stuff ........spend 4 or 5 dollars and get some Trilene or Stren .........then run the line throught the guides........tie it on the reel and never use a pencil, just lay the spool face up on the floor and reel away.....there is always instructions in the box...... lastly don't over fill the spool.....

It helps to have a friend to hold the line on a pencil to help you spool it. Surely you can find the starting point. There is a knot involved as well.
